Boredom is a feeling that we all experience from time to time. Whether it’s at work, in school, or just hanging out at home, boredom can strike at any moment. But did you know that the way you respond to boredom can have a significant impact on your life?

First and foremost, it’s important to understand that boredom is not necessarily a bad thing. It can actually be a catalyst for creativity and productivity. When we’re bored, our brains start looking for something to do, and that can lead to innovative thinking and problem-solving.

“Boredom is a feeling of dissatisfaction or disinterest that arises when we have nothing to do or when we’re engaged in an unstimulating activity.

When you experience boredom, your brain activity slows down and there is a decrease in the activity of the brain’s reward center. This means that the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and motivation, is reduced, leading to a feeling of dissatisfaction and disinterest.”

However, if we respond to boredom by mindlessly scrolling through social media or watching TV for hours on end, we’re not giving our brains the opportunity to be creative. Instead, we’re numbing ourselves to the world around us and missing out on potential opportunities.
